The Silver Spirit was the replacement to the hugely successful Silver Shadow range, and was launched in 1980. It is from this range that Bentley began to emerge with its own identity again, largely thanks to the very potent Bentley Turbo. Although the V8 was still based on the 6.75l that had begun life in the Silver Cloud, only Bentleys were equipped with turbo chargers. In the early Nineties, the first unique Bentley model with its own body style in over 50 years was introduced in the form of the Bentley Continental, later to be followed with a drop-head variant, the exquisite Bentley Azure.
